Overview of Round Hill
Originally opened in 1953, Round Hill Hotel and Villas was conceived by well-connected Jamaican-born entrepreneur, John Pringle. Pringle invited prominent American and European socialites, literati and artists to build private cottages on the property – formerly a pineapple grove – and to invest in the hotel. The property soon became the private haunt of style icons and the jet set including Sir Noel Coward, Adele Astaire, Bill and Babe Paley, Lord and Lady Ednam and Oscar Hammerstein. Today, Round Hill retains that old-school glamour and operates on the same basis – each of the villas is owned by individual “shareholders” chiefly from the U.S. and Europe. When the owners are not in residence, the villas are available for rent as private vacation residences.
Round Hill is located just west of Montego Bay in Jamaica, West Indies on the island’s north coast.The resort is a twenty-minute drive from Sangster International Airport (MBJ). Often referred to as “MoBay,” Montego Bay is the second largest city in Jamaica by area and the fourth by population (after Kingston, Spanish Town and Portmore).
Round Hill comprises 26 individually owned villas ranging from 2-6 bedrooms and 36 ocean-room Pineapple House surrounded by 30 acres of lush tropical gardens.
The villas feature comfortable in-door outdoor living, with spacious airy living rooms, verandas and magnificent views. Most of the villas have private pools. Each villa bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom and terrace. Guests may book a complete villa with private pool and dedicated staff.
Designed by Ralph Lauren, The Pineapple House features all oceanfront rooms, overlooking the Caribbean Sea and the double infinity edge pool. First floor rooms have large louvered windows, which fold back to take full advantage of breathtaking views, ground floor rooms have patios or balconies.

Secluded for privacy, the Classic Villas at Round Hill offer guests an experience unique to the resort. These picturesque villas showcase the resort’s original style and classic elements and boast views of beautiful Round Hill Bay, while serving as the perfect home-away-from-home for guests. The Classic Villas come staffed with their own dedicated staff, helping maintain the historic resort’s unmatched level of service. Equipping these villas with two to five bedrooms and multiple open-air living spaces ensures maximum comfort for honeymooners, families, or couples traveling together. Most Classic Villas feature private pools, while others are only steps away from the resort’s main pool. Guests also enjoy daily breakfast catered and served by their dedicated villa staff.
Signature Villas
The Signature Villas at Round Hill offer guests their own private experience. Each unique villa provides guests with indoor and outdoor living spaces, designed with a blend of modern and classic cottage elements, with stylish open-air and enclosed living rooms. Guests can enjoy their own private pool surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens. The villas come staffed with their own dedicated staff, who help maintain Round Hill’s high level of service. Guests also enjoy daily breakfast catered and served by the villa staff. Signature villas range from three to six bedrooms, making them ideally suited for families or intimate groups.
Estate Villa
Serving as Round Hill’s crowning jewel, the Estate Villa is one of the most stunning villas on property. Situated at the edge of the tropical rainforest, this magnificent six-bedroom villa offers guests unmatched levels of privacy and seclusion, as well as some of the best views of the area. The Estate Villa features exceptional amenities, including two private pools, which can be heated upon request, and an open-air living space with both fire pit and waterfall. Additionally, the villa boasts eight bathrooms, several outdoor showers, a bar, and sweeping views of the resort and Round Hill Bay. Guests also enjoy daily breakfast catered and served by their dedicated villa staff. The Estate Villa can accommodate up to fourteen guests, making it ideally suited for multi-generation families and large groups.

Restaurants & Bars at Round Hill
Dining options at Round Hill include The Grille at Round Hill, Seaside Terrace, Cocktail Bar, daily Afternoon Tea, and private in-villa dining. Guests can also enjoy lunch and refreshments on the
beach and at the Beach and Pool Bars. Redesigned by Ralph Lauren, The Grille at Round Hill features black granite floors, white columns, and brass lanterns, channeling the rich and storied history of the property alongside the fresh, modern design elements which reflects an unpretentious, clean and fresh Caribbean aesthetic.
Under the helm of Chef Martin Maginley, the modern Caribbean-inspired menus utilize the freshest ingredients sourced from the property’s organic garden to create dishes such as the classic Oxtail Ravioli with Caribbean Lobster Ragout and Appleton Rum Cream Sauce as well as new menu items that focus on the authentic exotic flavors of Jamaica.
Round Hill believes in the “farm to table” philosophy, sourcing most ingredients from local farms as well as the property’s own organic garden. The See, Touch and Taste Program allows Round Hill guests pick vegetables directly from the on-property garden which the chef will prepare for them in the kitchen for their next meal. Round Hill provides varied nightly entertainment. Evenings may include a bonfire and beach picnic accompanied by calypso tunes, a four-course dinner and romantic dancing under the stars, or casual dining on Jamaican specialties followed by folk music and dancing.
The Restaurant at Round Hill
Celebrating award-winning chef Martin Maginley’s philosophy of ‘Light Clean Caribbean Cuisine’, The Restaurant at Round Hill is delighted to offer an exquisite table d’hote dining experience on the resort’s upstairs dining terrace.
Promising an intimate dining experience, the restaurant is not open to small children or large groups and has limited seating, accommodating a maximum of six persons per table and a total capacity of 40 persons. Reservations are mandatory.
Chef Maginley and his talented culinary team will showcase the finest and freshest Jamaican ingredients, including organic herbs and vegetables grown on the resort’s on-property organic garden as well as the best of the island’s bounty procured from local farmers.
The Grill
The Grill is our rooftop restaurant located above the bar and terrace, offering panoramic, seaside views and ocean breezes. The décor is in keeping with our classic aesthetic of relaxed luxury. Jamaican artist Albert Huie’s black and white woodcut prints accent the simplistic, whitewashed décor, adding a touch of historic perspective to the dining experience.
The Grill features the only indoor, wood-fired grill on island, using local, indigenous logwood. The wood imparts a touch of smoky richness and is used in a mixture of torched wood for earthy flavour and sweet wood to round out the finish. The open kitchen allows guests a glimpse of the busy chefs as they prepare the evening’s meal.
The Modern Caribbean theme of the resort’s cuisine at The Grill is simple, locally produced (where possible) and sustainable. The focus remains on sustainably-grown, humane and organic products. We source much of the produce from the surrounding area or our very own organic garden.
Seaside Terrace
Enjoy dining under the stars on the Seaside Terrace.
On Monday evenings the beach comes alive with our traditional Beach Barbecue featuring a tantalizing array of delicious fare. Guests enjoy a fun evening of informal, yet candlelit dining created for lasting memories. (shorts are allowed, barefoot elegance preferred).
Following the Manager’s Reception on Wednesday evenings, the Seaside Terrace’s a-la-carte menu is highlighted by Caribbean Curry Specials.
Friday evening is surely the highlight of the week, reserved for a celebration of Jamaican food and culture with the best of real Jamaican delicacies. An authentic floor show is sure to delight all generations of guests. (Please note that the floor show is offered on a seasonal basis; however, live entertainment is always available on Friday evening.)
Bars
Midday, venture to the Seaside Terrace or the Beach or Pool Bar for an informal yet delectable lunch featuring a variety of fresh salads and wraps or indulgent burgers and pastas. Wash it down with a Red Stripe or a Rum Punch and settle back into your beach chaise for a heavenly nap.Afternoon Tea is served in the lounge, and showcases traditional finger foods such as cucumber sandwiches, fresh fruit and an array of fine desserts. Mingle with guests and enjoy shade from the afternoon sun as you delight in a selection of teas, chilled water and coffee.
Evenings at Round Hill are an occasion to dress in casual, elegant island fashion and truly enjoy your nightly dining experience. Depending on the evening, you may dine al fresco by the moonlit sea on our Seaside Terrace, savour the flavors and show of wood-fire cooking in the open kitchen at The Grill, or go barefoot in the sand on our torch-lit beach for one of our special dining events.

The Spa at Round Hill located in a beautifully restored 18th century plantation house on 10 acres of beachfront lawn. Facilities include a full-service beauty salon, seven treatment rooms as well as the Garden Loft amidst the lush Jamaican rainforest.
